It's time for another trip through the Archives! 🙂

"Stocks for the Long Run" was the third or fourth book on investing I read. I was a total newbie when I read this book. The lessons didn't resonate with me right away. I had to see markets in action for a couple of months and then I would have moments like, "Oh, that's what he meant!. 😄 Prof. Siegel braced me for volatility and corrections, like what we saw in 2022. 📉 He also challenged my perception of the mechanics of investing. I always had this idea that I would be drilling on my keyboard and spinning my mouse in 100 km arcs trying to bend the second by second fluctuations in index and price movements to my favor. The market of stocks we call "the stock market" is ~waay~ bigger than any one single person. 👍 You're here for the ride and Prof. Siegel is here to tell you what the ride is all about. 🎢

This is amazing! How many investing books did you read by now?

The wisdom in this book are so simple, but so true. If everyone would use them the world would be a healthier and wealthier place

I am a slow reader 🐌 and I've only been reading about investors for the past 4 - 5 years. So, maybe 20? I've been studying books rather than just read them and I make a lot of notes and highlights as I go along. This makes me go slow. I have to admit I am envious of people who can speed read with a photographic memory. Kind of makes me feel like I am dumber than a rock! 🥸 😄 It's all good though. We do what we can with the gifts and talents bestowed upon us by divine providence. 🙂

Getting back to Prof. Siegel's book, I remember thinking to myself when I finished reading it that there is probably a much simpler way to present the information, especially for beginners. Beginners may get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of supporting evidence and past history. I think your article here does a pretty good of distilling the book down to some key essential concepts. 👍
